Overview:

General Mills is a leading manufacturer of consumer food products, with a strong commitment to quality and safety. The company operates a high-performing, multi-platform non-union facility in Murfreesboro, employing over 1,000 employees. The site supports the Meals & Baking and Morning Foods Operating Units across 24 production lines. This Quality Assurance Manager position will be responsible for leading Food Safety, Quality, and Regulatory work in the Yoplait Plant.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide FSQ leadership and direction through technical mastery in the areas of regulatory compliance, product quality, food safety, sanitation, ingredients, and defect handling.
  • Provide functional leadership to support plant and department objectives.
  • Provide leadership and plant technical support for R&D, HMM, reformulations, and new product start-ups.
  • Develop action plans with Operations, R&D, Engineering, and FSQ teams to ensure product specifications, analytical procedures, and sampling programs are appropriate and meet system capability and key consumer requirements.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Sanitation and Engineering to continuously reduce risk within the Yoplait Murfreesboro plant and lead food safety.
  • Build alignment and strategy with cross-functional partners, lead risk assessments and root cause analysis activities for issue resolution.
  • Ensure the execution and compliance of all Food Safety & Regulatory Matters policies.
  • Using Quality Engineering principles, collect, analyze, and interpret in-process and analytical data to make quality evaluations and recommend actions for improvement.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Engineering, Microbiology, or other related fields.
  • 3+ years of quality, food safety or related experience.
  • Clear, concise, well-directed communication/ability to employ multiple communication styles.
  • Ability to flex work schedule when required to support a 24/7 manufacturing operation. This includes weekend on-call support and occasional early/late work hours.
  • Ability to lead and influence peer group/cross-functional teams and effect change/department direction.
  • Understanding of product quality, sensory, sanitation and food safety.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, ability to apply engineering principles and ability to troubleshoot.
  • Ability to apply the tools of statistics, problem solving and decision making.
  • Demonstrated leadership, initiative, and bias for action.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of quality, food safety or related experience.
  • Ability to lead constructive, positive change within a plant environment.
  • Ability to build mutual respect at all levels in the organization to execute programs and achieve goals.
  • Ability to manage cross-platform projects and be comfortable with ambiguity.
