Nurse Manager Medical Surgical

As a Charge Nurse RN Medical Surgical, you will be responsible for supervising and mentoring nursing and support staff during assigned shifts. You will determine staffing levels and assignments based on staff availability, staff abilities, census, patient acuity, and work/patient flow. You will provide direct patient care as needed and float between staff to assist with problem-solving. You may take patient assignments to meet staffing needs. You will evaluate the effectiveness of patient care and identify any issues that affect desired patient outcomes. You will respond to complaints about patient care and related services, and manage through established channels. You will perform role-specific duties as assigned, including entering orders, performing admissions or discharges, and coordinating transfers. You will ensure staff has necessary equipment and supplies to provide safe, quality patient care. You will integrate evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols. You will create and foster an environment that encourages professional growth.

Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a Registered Nurse (RN) license from the Virginia State Board of Nursing. You will also need to have previous experience in an acute care hospital setting, preferably in a medical surgical unit. You will need to be able to work in a fast-paced environment and make decisions quickly and effectively. You will need to have strong communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams. You will also need to have a strong commitment to providing high-quality patient care and a passion for delivering exceptional service to our patients and their families.
