Position Overview
The Clinical Nursing Coordinator plays a pivotal role in the realm of Neurosurgery and Spine procedures. This position requires a deep understanding of surgical processes and the ability to anticipate the needs of both the surgical team and patients throughout various procedures. The coordinator is expected to stay abreast of the latest advancements in techniques and serve as a mentor to nursing staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the education and training of nursing staff, ensuring they are well-versed in Neurosurgery and Spine surgical protocols.
- Circulate during surgical procedures to provide support to the surgeon and guide new staff members.
- Ensure all necessary equipment is prepared and operational prior to each surgical case.
- Manage inventory and equipment, organizing daily surgical cases effectively.
- Order supplies as needed to maintain optimal inventory levels for surgical procedures.
- Collaborate with management to coordinate surgical cases and staffing requirements.
- Work closely with Sterile Processing, Materials Management, and Vendors to ensure all surgical needs are met.
Qualifications
Education and Licensure
- Must possess a valid Registered Nurse license in the State of Florida.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
- Current BLS/CPR certification (American Heart Association or equivalent) is required.
- Certification in Perioperative Nursing (CNOR) is preferred.
Experience
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in the Operating Room, specifically in general, Neurosurgery, and Spine surgery, is preferred.
