GE Aviation is seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineer to support the Aviation Engines Component Repair Business operations. This role is responsible for improving processes that support engine overhauls of various engine models.
Key Responsibilities- Process Improvement: Determine safe manufacturing processes that produce a quality product in the most efficient method possible.
- Collaboration and Problem-Solving: Assist leaders, mechanics, and technicians in resolving manufacturing process issues, and collaborate to identify root cause and develop comprehensive corrective actions.
- Research and Development: Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research trials, applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, machining, tooling, and materials, and conferring with equipment vendors.
- Quality and Design: Work cross-functionally with quality and design engineers to ensure that processes achieve performance metrics.
- Training and Empowerment: Train and empower production employees in manufacturing techniques required to improve process yield.
- Productivity and Quality Initiatives: Support and meet production schedules, driving productivity and quality initiatives within budget plan.
- Lean Principles: Utilize lean principles to improve manufacturing efficiency, optimize material flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
- Technology and Innovation: Investigate and apply modern technology to improve manufacturing processes.
- Leadership and Communication: Promote and build a positive working relationship with hourly team members.
- Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of Aviation industry experience in engineering or quality roles.
- Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of inspection and maintenance methods related to aerospace engine repairs, strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Continuous Learning: Humble, transparent, and motivated individual with a focus on continuous learning.
- Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Unionized Environment: Experience working in a unionized environment.
- ERP and Project Management: Proficiency in ERP SAP Oasis and strong project management skills.
- Quality and Analytical Skills: Knowledgeable in GD&T, print reading, and machining processes such as CNC conventional machining, electrical discharge machining, water jet, plasma spray, chemical cleaning, paint, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, electron beam welding, heat treat.
- Quality Training: Six Sigma or equivalent Quality training.
