Japan Program Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled Japan Program Officer to join our team at Former Members of Congress (FMC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting bipartisan dialogue between the U.S. Congress and international allies.
Job OverviewThe Japan Program Officer will play a crucial role in implementing the programming of FMC's Congressional Study Group on Japan, working closely with our Congressional Study Group team to plan and execute roundtable discussions, receptions, and study tours to Japan and other countries for current and former Members of Congress and Congressional staff.
This position requires exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, in English and Japanese, as well as strong organizational and interpersonal skills to maintain and grow a network of high-level contacts and stakeholders participating in our programs.
Responsibilities:- Programming Implementation: Plan and execute programming for the Congressional Study Group on Japan, including roundtable discussions, receptions, and study tours to Japan and other countries.
- Network Development: Maintain and grow a network of high-level contacts and stakeholders participating in our programs.
- Grant Management: Nurture existing institutional grants and support development of new funding opportunities.
- Communications Support: Assist with external communications efforts, including website and social media management.
- Vendor Management: Manage relationships with vendors.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Exceptional Communication Skills: Demonstrate exceptional verbal and written professional communications skills in both English and Japanese.
- Self-Motivation and Organization: Be a self-starter, independently keeping on top of both long-term and short-term deadlines.
- Team-Oriented: Be team-oriented, with highly developed interpersonal skills.
- Bachelor's Degree: Have a BA degree in a related field.
FMC offers a competitive salary of $54,000-57,000, commensurate with experience, and generous benefits, including:

All new FMC staff members are expected to work at our office in downtown Washington, DC. After an initial trial period, new FMC employees are eligible to apply for FMC's telecommuting hybrid schedule: working remotely and working at the FMC office.
