Job Title: Patient Benefits Representative

Estimated Salary: $50,000 - $65,000 per year

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Patient Benefits Representative to support our Chesapeake location. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that patients receive accurate information about their insurance coverage and benefits.

Responsibilities:

  • Prior to treatment, obtain patients' insurance coverage information and demographics, and educate them on their insurance coverage, benefits, co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses.
  • Assess patients' ability to meet expenses and discuss payment arrangements, including financial assistance programs.
  • Complete the Patient Cost Estimate form based on diagnosis, estimated insurance coverage, and financial assistance.
  • Obtain insurance pre-authorization or referral approval codes prior to each treatment.
  • Verify and update patient demographics and insurance coverage in the computer system according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Stay current on available financial aide and develop professional relationships with financial aide providers.
  • Adhere to confidentiality, state, federal, and HIPAA laws and guidelines with regards to patients' records.
  • Maintain updated manuals, logs, forms, and documentation.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum three (3) years of pre-services coordinator experience required, with two (2) years of patient benefits experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of CPT coding and HCPS coding application.
  • Able to verbally communicate clearly and utilize the appropriate and correct terminology.
  • Must be willing to travel to all clinic locations as needed.
