Job Title: Social Studies/History Teacher

About the Role:

The Making Waves Academy is seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Social Studies/History Teacher to join our team. As a member of our faculty, you will play a critical role in shaping the educational experience of our students and contributing to the academic excellence of our institution.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective instruction for Social Studies and History courses that engage all students and create a safe, supportive, and rigorous learning environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop lesson and unit plans that help students meet and exceed proficiency in content standards.
  • Facilitate and participate in culture building within and beyond the classroom, consistently reinforcing school-wide norms and expectations.
  • Manage classroom behavior with Tier 1 interventions as defined in the MTSS framework.
  • Enforce school policies and procedures to maintain discipline and safety.
  • Supervise students to ensure their safety and communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Valid California Single or Multiple Subject Teaching Credential in Subject Area is required.
  • English Learner (EL) Authorization Certificate.
  • Passing scores on CBEST and CSET required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Degree desirable.
  • Spanish language proficiency.
