The company has a central Distribution Center with 11 buildings, spanning over 12 million square feet, featuring advanced conveyor systems, automated picking systems, and industrial machinery.

The Mechanical Engineering Department is responsible for designing, installing, and maintaining industrial equipment and material handling systems for Hobby Lobby Distribution.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collecting and analyzing data to recommend process improvements
  • Improving the safety and functionality of automated systems using industrial controls and software applications
  • Collaborating with Industrial Engineering, Software Engineering, Operations, and Management to plan and design material handling and warehouse support systems
  • Managing the installation and commissioning of automated systems and equipment
  • Supporting maintenance managers and technicians

Required skills and knowledge include:

  • PLC and software application programming
  • Knowledge of electrical and hydraulic schematics and systems
  • Knowledge of machinery and mechanical systems
  • Effective communication with various stakeholders
  • AutoCAD and other drafting tools for mechanical system design

Education and experience requirements include:

  • Degree or training in Controls Engineering and/or Mechanical Engineering
  • At least 2 years of experience working with industrial machinery
  • Demonstrated ability to work with multiple engineering disciplines
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to change and prioritize company goals
