Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Worker to join our team at Katmai. As a Maintenance Worker, you will be responsible for performing general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings, requiring practical skill and knowledge in various trades such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings
  • Build and/or move interior wall partitions, move and/or re-arrange containers, build and/or move rubble piles, wooden facades, add safety rails, add fixed ladders, add safety cages, close off doorways, close off windows, cut new windows, cut new doorways, move and/or re-arrange scrap vehicles, move and/or re-arrange jersey barriers, move and/or re-arrange furniture, etc.
  • Perform general maintenance on equipment and machinery
  • Empty trash cans, sweep and mop floors, dust furniture and equipment, clean windows
  • Inspect and clean or replace HVAC filters
  • Complete sweep down & cleanup of the training facilities, where applicable
  • Operate a mower and string trimmer for ground maintenance
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • High School Diploma required
  • Two (2) years' experience in maintenance services
  • Any combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described including related work experience in one or more of the building trades
  • Must obtain and maintain any necessary security access and/or background checks
Preferred Qualifications
  • Flexibility in scheduling work hours and available for occasional travel
  • Must be able to use hand power tools and work effectively within a team
  • Has knowledge of carpentry, painting, and electrical systems
  • Has basic computer skills and can learn new systems
  • Prioritize task and manage time to meet deadlines
Work Environment

Work is primarily performed outdoors, but may also be performed in a maintenance facility as well as in outdoor military training areas. Work is often performed in adverse conditions including inclement weather such as high humidity, heat, cold, high wind, rain, and various local conditions.

Our mission is to train US Marines; therefore we work side by side with them in all climates and conditions.

Employee may be exposed to sharp objects and may be exposed to some heat, loud noise, chemicals, lead and vibration.

Katmai strictly adheres to the Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHA) regulations. Use of personal protective equipment is mandatory if applicable.

Employee will be exposed to a wide variety of people in differing functions, personalities and abilities.

Physical Demands

Position consists of standing for long periods of time, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and lifting boxes weighing up to 50 pounds.

Frequently uses hands/fingers for handling, to work with such hand tools as lawn equipment, outdoor tools, shovels, wrenches, screwdrivers, wire cutters, pliers, and soldering irons.
