Position Overview

The Electrical Reliability Engineer will collaborate closely with Instrumentation and Electrical (I/E) teams and reliability professionals to enhance electrical safety and dependability. This role encompasses the leadership of the electrical safety initiative, management of power system models, and the strategic vision for the enhancement of electrical distribution assets.

The primary objective is to elevate Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability (EHSS) performance, boost asset reliability, minimize maintenance expenses, and promote a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the comprehensive Electrical Safety initiative across the site.
  • Evaluate and sanction the scope of electrical projects.
  • Assess the performance of electrical assets, anticipate equipment failures, and proactively mitigate potential issues through effective equipment strategies.
  • Support troubleshooting efforts and enhance the technical skills of electricians.
  • Authorize Power Systems Studies.
  • Assist in the training and development of site personnel based on identified needs and knowledge gaps.
  • Formulate and refine Standard Maintenance Procedures and Maintenance Plans.
  • Lead investigations into incidents related to equipment failures, operational downtimes, and electrical safety occurrences.
  • Share critical learnings across the site and the corporation to prevent recurrence of similar events and to cultivate a learning-oriented culture.
  • Review turnaround scopes and provide support during execution for all electrical equipment, ensuring immediate technical assistance with recommendations for any unforeseen findings during the turnaround period.
  • Implement best practices, technical alerts, and corporate manufacturing standards for electrical equipment.
  • Develop multi-year asset plans for electrical systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Familiarity with NETA, NFPA 70, and NFPA 70E standards.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Exceptional communication skills are essential.
  • Experience with reliability tools for preventive and predictive maintenance is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, such as IEEE, is a plus.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, performing basic mathematics, and using business software, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both written and verbal forms.
  • Able to collaborate with and influence a diverse group, from operational technicians to site and business management.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to facilitate discussions.
  • Capable of working under time constraints.
  • Ability to analyze data and draw conclusions from written or computer-generated materials.
  • Experience in coordinating resources to implement recommendations.
  • Skilled in directing and influencing the activities of others to achieve objectives.
  • Competent in conducting research and developing plans, procedures, goals, strategies, or processes based on data analysis or experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with operations, technical staff, and maintenance personnel.
  • Familiarity with the design and maintenance of electrical equipment, including variable speed drives, DC motors, AC induction motors, breakers, contactors, batteries, and UPS systems.
  • Understanding of P&ID, piping isometrics, and Process Flow Diagrams.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Work Availability

Consistent and predictable attendance is a fundamental requirement of this position. Candidates must be available and willing to work during designated hours of operation and any additional hours deemed necessary by the company to meet business needs.
