Licensed Practical Nurse

Vida Charter School is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team as a Student Health Services provider. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive health services to students, ensuring their well-being and addressing any medical needs that arise during school hours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Health Assessments: Conduct routine health assessments, screenings, and evaluations of students to identify health issues and provide appropriate care or referrals.
- First Aid and Emergency Care: Administer first aid and emergency care as needed, including responding to accidents, injuries, and medical emergencies.
- Medication Administration: Manage and administer prescribed medications and treatments according to doctor's orders and school policies.
- Health Education: Educate students and staff on health-related topics, including nutrition, hygiene, and disease prevention.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential health records, including immunization records, health histories, and incident reports.
- Communication: Collaborate with parents, teachers, and school administrators to address health concerns and ensure effective communication regarding student health needs.
- Health Programs: Develop and implement health promotion programs and wellness activities tailored to the needs of the student population. This may include supporting with the implementation of public health initiatives for family members of students, in cooperation with local partners.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal health regulations and school policies.
Requirements:
- Education: LPN: Completion of a Licensed Practical Nursing program and valid LPN license. or RN: Completion of a Registered Nursing program and valid RN license.
- Experience: Previous experience in a school setting or pediatric nursing is preferred.
- Skills: Clinical Expertise: Strong clinical skills and knowledge of common childhood illnesses and injuries. Multicultural Competency: Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population and understand various cultural practices and health beliefs. Bilingual Communication: Proficiency in Spanish and English is highly desirable; ability to communicate effectively with students and families from diverse linguistic backgrounds. Cultural Sensitivity: Demonstrated ability to interact respectfully and empathetically with students and families from various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on building strong relationships with students, families, and staff. Adaptability: Ability to adapt communication and health education strategies to meet the needs of a multicultural community. Team Collaboration: Ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborating with multicultural and bilingual colleagues and stakeholders. Technical Proficiency: Proficient in using medical equipment and technology. Certifications: Current CPR and First Aid certification required; School Nurse certification preferred.
