Job Summary

We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to join our team at UNC Health. As a key member of our interdisciplinary healthcare team, you will provide high-quality, cost-effective care to patients within your scope of practice in collaboration with a supervising physician.

Responsibilities
  1. Clinical: Obtain relevant health and medical history, perform thorough physical assessments, review and interpret pertinent diagnostic tests/results. Develop appropriate differential diagnoses and treatment plans, including prescribing/ordering of evidence-based pharmacological agents consistent with departmental guidelines and privileging.
  2. Education: Educate clients and/or families regarding medical conditions, treatment, and follow-up. Collaborate with clinicians, staff, and students to promote continuity and patient/family-centered care.
  3. Leadership: Provide instruction to physicians, house staff, nursing, ancillaries, and/or students, including precepting, shadowing, lectures, training classes, CE, rounds, morning report, and/or staff meetings. Participate in community/network outreach programs and develop/lead community/network outreach programs.
  4. Professionalism: Interact with patients and families in a respectful, courteous, and timely fashion using appropriate communication for the patient and situation. Collaborate with coworkers, other team members, and staff in a respectful, courteous, and timely fashion appropriate to patient care needs and situations.
  5. Quality/Research: Engage in daily continuous quality improvement by identifying and implementing processes for improvement. Consult with management in assessment, problem-solving, decision-making, and evaluating clinical/system issues and models of care.
Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited graduate-level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program
  • Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider (i.e., Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) in the state of North Carolina. Board certification if required by the Department. DEA.
  • No prior experience required
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Demonstrated clinical competency. Effective leadership skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Demonstrated written and verbal communication and strong analytical skills.
