Position Summary
The University of Cincinnati is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Research Assistant in the Department of Pathology. This role involves a variety of responsibilities aimed at supporting our research initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute experiments and accurately record findings in accordance with established research protocols.
- Evaluate data for accuracy and perform necessary statistical and graphical analyses.
- Assist in the oversight and maintenance of laboratory animal colonies, including tasks such as genotyping and monitoring the health of animal models.
- Ensure the upkeep of various transgenic mouse lines utilized in research.
- Oversee the preoperative and postoperative care of research animals, ensuring their well-being.
- Manage fibroblast cell cultures, conduct cardiomyocyte isolations, and perform in vitro cell culture, along with executing left coronary artery ligation procedures to develop myocardial infarction models.
- Apply foundational research principles to less complex assignments.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the department to adapt to its changing requirements. Please be aware that this job description may evolve as necessary.
Educational Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree is required.
- Five (5) years of relevant professional experience or specialized training may substitute for the educational requirement.
Experience Requirements
Further related work experience may be necessary depending on the specific field or discipline.

- Frequent repetitive hand motions (e.g., typing).
- Regular hearing and listening.
