Position Overview
This role is situated within the U.S. Department of the Interior, specifically in the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE), focusing on the Pacific Outer Continental Shelf (POCS) Region. The position is integral to the Office of Production and Development (OPD) Resource Development Section (RDS).
Key Responsibilities
At the full performance level (GS-12), the primary responsibilities of this role encompass, but are not limited to:
- Collaborating with the RDS Supervisor and team to formulate, assess, and propose standardized technical definitions for the uniform application of data management.
- Gathering and correlating geophysical, geological, and petroleum engineering data for comprehensive reservoir evaluations.
- Conducting engineering assessments of drilling and workover equipment, along with operations on the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS), and generating detailed engineering documentation.
- Reviewing technical reports related to wind energy and assisting in crafting Terms & Conditions for construction and operational plans associated with renewable energy leases.
- Offering technical insights in the formulation of regional policies concerning wind energy.
- Ensuring adherence to safety and environmental regulations in operations, particularly in areas such as drilling and facilities management, which frequently involve safety and environmental challenges.
Travel Requirements: Occasional travel may be necessary for site assessments, meetings, training sessions, and conferences. Field visits to production facilities or offshore installations are part of the role.
Physical and Medical Requirements: The demanding physical environment necessitates that the employee maintains good physical health and meets the Medical Physical Standards for BSEE. Successful completion of water survival training is required, along with the ability to transfer from boats to structures using ropes and personnel baskets.
Work Environment: The position primarily operates in an office setting, with frequent field visits to production facilities or offshore sites. During these visits, exposure to heavy machinery, chemicals, and other potentially hazardous conditions may occur. Adherence to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment, is mandatory. Travel to offshore locations may involve motor vehicles, helicopters, and boats, with potential overnight stays.
Salary Information:
GS-07: ($57,007 - $74,110) per annum.
GS-09: ($69,729 - $90,647) per annum.
GS-11: ($84,366 - $109,673) per annum.
GS-12: ($101,121 - $131,452) per annum.
Additional Information:
This vacancy may be utilized to fill additional positions as they become available.

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements: To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the Basic Educational Requirements and Specialized Experience or Education criteria for the series/grade they are applying for.
