Job Summary

Cornell Cooperative Extension is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the role of Association Program Leader I. This position will serve as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Nutrition Education (SNAP-Ed) Program Policy, Systems, and Environmental (PSE) Specialist for Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of St. Lawrence County.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement high-quality nutrition education and policy, systems, and environmental change strategies and programming to meet identified PSE needs within the county, region, and to meet grant requirements.
  • Deliver the PSE interventions to the targeted number of both adult and youth participants in the SNAP-Ed Program ensuring that required program client numbers are achieved quarterly and annually.
  • Assist in the development of community partnerships to encourage the incorporation of PSE initiatives and nutrition education programming into special events in classrooms, after-school programs, and other appropriate venues.
  • Implement policy and environmental changes to address identified gaps/needs in the community, county and/or region.
  • Coordinate marketing and promotion of PSE initiatives through public relation initiatives and networking/collaborating with government, economic, educational, and agricultural organizations.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree or Equivalent Education (Bachelor's Degree and four (4) years transferable relevant evidence-based research experience).
  • Experience relevant to the role of the position.
  • Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, clearly, and tactfully through verbal, written and electronic methods.
  • Ability and willingness to work with a high degree of integrity, accuracy, organization, sound professional judgment, and the ability to handle confidential, sensitive information.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Background or course work in program planning and development, nutrition, health education and/or public health, public relations/ partnership building.
  • Familiarity with the community in which the work will take place and ability to utilize program resources within the community.
  • Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
  • Ability to plan and organize personal work responsibilities according to priorities developed with the immediate supervisor in order to complete work in a timely manner and within established deadlines.
  • Proficiency with windows-based software including use of the internet and Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Excel.
