POSITION OVERVIEW

The Project Manager will be stationed within our general contracting division. This role involves overseeing all activities related to the construction of projects, which may extend to various locations. Responsibilities include managing or coordinating with a team of project coordinators, administrators, and other project or area managers. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directs and supervises all stages of a construction project, forecasts job cost requirements, estimates change orders, and tracks force account items for appropriate reimbursement, while establishing procedures for project execution. Maintains professional communication with owners, project personnel, and colleagues.
  • Analyzes project proposals and plans to ascertain timelines, staffing needs, project completion schedules, and allocation of available resources.
  • Ensures adherence to all contractual terms and obligations associated with projects.
  • Engages in onsite value engineering assessments to reduce costs and enhance value.
  • Guarantees that projects meet or surpass budgetary constraints. Conducts monthly meetings with senior management to review progress.
  • Ensures accurate accounting for change orders and force accounts.
  • Collaborates with necessary departments and subcontractors to establish work schedules and make modifications as needed.
  • Meets with clients, vendors, and project personnel to identify obstacles and develop solutions to enhance productivity and minimize expenses.
  • Ensures all submittals, RFIs, and change orders comply with contract documents and are processed according to requirements.
  • Responsible for project setup, including trailers and communication systems.
  • Maintains submittal log books and quantity tracking.
  • Prepares forecasts for upper management and collaborates with key personnel to ensure project timelines are met.
  • Conducts meetings with owners, engineers, contractors, and field crews to verify the accuracy and completeness of construction activities.
  • Reviews plans and specifications to determine the appropriate procedures for project completion.
  • Coordinates and monitors the activities of project teams to ensure overall quality of work.
  • Develops, manages, and updates project schedules as required by contract documents.
  • Continuously identifies situations that are not progressing effectively and seeks opportunities for project improvement.
  • Reviews field operations to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Prepares project status reports and ensures adherence to contract specifications.
  • Ensures that project and departmental milestones and goals are achieved within the approved budget.
  • Provides insights into job bidding processes to assist in securing future projects.
  • Extensive travel required, with significant time spent in the field for project management.
  • Responsible for project closeout activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as a Project Manager in the horizontal construction sector.
  • At least 3 years of construction experience on public works or Department of Transportation projects.
  • Experience with Caltrans projects is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or civil engineering is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, coupled with a high level of integrity.
  • Professional demeanor with a growth-oriented mindset for long-term engagement.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction methodologies.
  • Proficient understanding of highway construction, blueprint reading, and computer skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Significant travel and offsite living during project execution.
  • Physical demands include strenuous walking and adherence to personal protective equipment protocols.
  • Able to work in varying outdoor temperatures and job site conditions.
  • Must be capable of operating personal or company vehicles for business purposes.
