Group Exercise Instructor

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Group Exercise Instructor to join our team at Loyola Center for Fitness. As a Group Exercise Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching group exercise classes in a professional and safe manner to our members and guests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach group exercise classes as scheduled, providing modifications to accommodate varying fitness levels.
  • Understand contraindicated exercises and provide a safe and effective approach to exercise.
  • Maintain industry certification in good standing and meet continuing education requirements.
  • Ensure timely setup and cleanup of class areas.
  • Report equipment needs or issues to the supervisor.
  • Record participation numbers after each class.
  • Demonstrate accountability to the schedule and seek substitutes when necessary.
  • Provide a fun and engaging experience for participants.
  • Work towards meeting departmental and organizational goals.
  • Be flexible and accommodating with regards to center hours and work schedules.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Group exercise instructor certification required, preferably NCCA accredited.
  • Certification for specialty group exercise classes required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in group class instruction, teaching various styles, levels, and populations preferred.
  • CPR/AED certification required within 90 days of hire (provided by Power Wellness).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work with members in a positive and service-based manner.
  • Ability to multitask and maintain a professional demeanor.
