We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Non-Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner/Physician Associate to join our team at the Department of Mental Health-Forensics in Richland County, SC.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will provide direct patient care in the Forensics Program, working under the supervision of the Medical Director, Medical Primary Care Chief of Forensic Inpatient Services. This role involves collaborating with the supervising Non-Psychiatric Medical Physician and attending Psychiatrists to provide medical treatment to patients in the Forensic Inpatient Facility.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the supervising Non-Psychiatric Medical Physician and attending Psychiatrists to provide medical treatment to patients in the Forensic Inpatient Facility.
  • Assist in the creation of a therapeutic milieu to meet patients' needs, including admission history and physical examination, evaluation of new complaints, and coordination of indicated consultations and ancillary evaluations.
  • Medically manage an assigned caseload of patients and devise/coordinate monitoring protocols for labs, imaging, and medical problems to improve quality of care.
  • Collaborate with disciplines regarding adequate medical care and appropriate medical referrals.
  • Participate as an active member in Treatment Team meetings and assist in formulating Treatment Plans.
  • Maintain medical records as required by Bryan Psychiatric Hospital Forensic Services and DMH policies.
Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing at the master's level or doctoral level acceptable to the Board to include clinical experience.
  • Nursing license and official recognition by the Board as a Nurse Practitioner practicing in the extended role and authorized for prescriptive authority in South Carolina.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
