  • Address intricate performance issues related to branch prediction, data/code prefetching, cache hierarchy, and other CPU domains.
  • Investigate the integration of cutting-edge AI/ML methodologies to enhance CPU performance.
  • Develop tailored data analysis tools to identify performance bottlenecks, enabling a focused approach to problem-solving.
  • Engage in ongoing research across various CPU disciplines, offering insights to the Apple CPU design team regarding future enhancements.
  • Share findings and analyses with CPU architecture and design teams.
  • Influence the strategic direction for upcoming Apple CPUs utilized in iPhone, iPad, and Mac systems.
Essential Qualifications:
Proficient understanding of CPU architecture and micro-architecture principles.
Experience in specific CPU focus areas (e.g., branch prediction, pre-fetching) is advantageous.
Familiarity with machine learning literature, model selection, tuning, and interpretability.

Capability to pinpoint performance bottlenecks in prevalent industry workloads, devise solutions, and implement them in performance simulation.

Skilled in C/C++ and Python.
Education & Experience:
B.S. degree with a minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience. A PhD in Computer Science or Computer Engineering with a focus on Computer Architecture or Machine Learning is preferred.

Compensation & Benefits:
At Apple, base salary is one component of our comprehensive compensation package, determined within a specified range.

The base salary for this position falls between $175,800 and $312,200, influenced by your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees have the opportunity to participate in discretionary employee stock programs, becoming shareholders in the company. Additionally, employees may receive discretionary restricted stock unit awards and can purchase Apple stock at a discount through the Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
