As an Electrical and Instrumentation Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting instrumentation electrical equipment, PLCs, and DCS control systems in a continuously operated salt-tolerant clean chemical plant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in root cause failure analysis of equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with contractors to perform repair work as needed, ensuring seamless execution and high-quality results.
  • Tune controllers to optimize system performance and efficiency.
  • Repair switchgear to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Size and install electrical wire to meet specific requirements.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair control components, motor circuits, building and lighting circuits, and control circuits.
  • Document repairs as necessary to maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Respond to after-hours call-outs to ensure prompt attention to critical issues.
  • Maintain a personal set of tools appropriate for the position to ensure efficient and effective work.

Requirements:

  • Responsible attitude towards personal safety and the safety of coworkers, contractors, and the public.
  • Self-starter with the ability to self-direct work and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent diagnostic and repair skills for complex problems in instrumentation, DCS, and PLCs, including modifying program logic.
  • Good computer skills to effectively utilize software and systems.
  • Team-oriented, flexible, and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in reading electrical and instrument schematics, manuals, and P&IDs.
  • Proficient in using all test equipment associated with troubleshooting instrument and electrical equipment.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC equipment.
  • Knowledgeable of NEC and OSHA standards.

Education and Experience:

  • Instrument and Electrical Certificate or Trade School equivalent preferred.
  • We will consider hiring a new graduate with this education completed.
  • OR
  • 3 years of experience in industrial instrument and electrical repair.
