Job Overview

Interfuse Staffing is seeking a skilled Instrumentation and Electrical Technician to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting instrumentation, electrical equipment, PLC's, and DC control systems in a continuously operated chemical plant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in root cause failure analysis of equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with contractors to perform repair work as needed, ensuring seamless execution of tasks.
  • Tune controllers to optimize system performance and efficiency.
  • Repair switchgear and electrical components to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Install and troubleshoot electrical wire and control components, including motor circuits, building and lighting circuits, and control circuits.
  • Document repairs and maintenance activities as required for regulatory compliance.
  • Respond to after-hours call-outs to ensure prompt resolution of critical issues.
  • Develop and maintain a personal set of tools appropriate for the position.

  • Be a self-starter with the ability to self-direct work and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Demonstrate excellent diagnostic and repair skills for complex problems in instrumentation, DCS, and PLC's, including modifying program logic.
  • Develop strong computer skills to support efficient work processes.
  • Be a team-oriented individual with flexibility and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiently read electrical and instrument schematics, manuals, and P&ID's to inform decision-making.
  • Skilled in using test equipment for troubleshooting instrument and electrical equipment.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC equipment and familiarity with NEC and OSHA standards.

Education and Experience

  • Hold an Instrument and Electrical certificate or trade school equivalent.
  • Three years of experience in industrial instrument and electrical repair.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Physical Demands

  • Lift up to and including 50 pounds.
  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Climb stairs up to 25 steps multiple times per shift.
  • Climb a ladder up to 20 feet as needed.
  • Turn valves, pushing and pulling them into the open and close position multiple times per shift.
  • Work in conditions exceeding ambient air temperature by approximately 30 degrees F.
  • Work in an environment with an electromagnetic field.
