Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Intern to join our team at Berkshire Hathaway Energy. As an Accounting Intern, you will assist in the preparation and review of financial reports, perform account reconciliations, and support the planning process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation and review of monthly and quarterly financial reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Account Reconciliations: Perform account reconciliations, journal entry files, and required documentation to ensure financial accuracy.
  • Planning and Support: Support the planning process, compiling documentation for audit or other requests, and perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • Professional Development: Enhance job knowledge and abilities by taking personal responsibility for professional development and training.
  • Project Assistance: Provide project assistance and perform responsibilities as directed within determined time frames with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Work Relationships: Establish and maintain effective work relationships within the department and the company.
  • Confidentiality: Maintain sensitive and confidential information regarding company information.
  • Compliance: Ensure all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes, and regulations applicable to position and company.
Requirements
  • Education: Must be a college student, sophomore or higher standing, currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in finance or accounting.
  • Skills: Solid computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint), familiarity with data exchange tools and concepts, strong written and verbal communication skills, effective project management skills, effective analytical and problem-solving skills, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks and complete projects within tight deadlines.
  • Availability: Must be available to work during the academic year.
  • Background Check: Employment is contingent upon passing a post-offer background check and drug screen.
