The Harwich Ecumenical Council for the Homeless, Inc. is seeking a Senior Preschool Educator who will play a vital role in assisting the director with essential duties and developing a curriculum tailored for early childhood education. This role involves leading and mentoring assistant educators, engaging with families, and ensuring a secure and supportive environment for the children entrusted to your care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the director in managing daily operations, including staff and children's schedules, classroom observations, and curriculum oversight.
- Facilitate staff training, development, and supervision, while contributing to team meetings.
- Ensure all necessary documentation for children and staff is collected and organized in compliance with state regulations.
- Design and execute lesson plans that meet educational standards and align with the curriculum.
- Maintain a safe and nurturing atmosphere conducive to learning.
- Oversee and guide classroom assistants and aides.
- Communicate consistently with parents regarding their child's development and progress.
- Evaluate children's academic, social, and emotional growth.
- Provide personalized support to meet the individual needs of children.
- Organize classroom activities, excursions, and special events.
- Adhere to all relevant state and federal educational regulations.
- Keep accurate records of attendance and developmental milestones.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching practices.
- Act as the interim director when necessary, overseeing staff and program activities.
Qualifications:
- Possession of an Early Education and Care Director 1 or 2 license and Lead Teacher certification.
- A Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related discipline is preferred; an Associate's degree (CDA accepted) is acceptable.
- A minimum of three years' experience in a preschool setting.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong understanding of child development and effective teaching strategies.
- Ability to maintain a positive classroom environment and manage student behavior.
- Genuine passion for fostering the growth and learning of young children.
- Patience and nurturing demeanor, coupled with effective classroom management abilities.
- Collaborative spirit to work effectively with fellow educators and staff.
- Excellent organizational and time-management capabilities.
- Skill in recognizing and addressing the unique needs of individual students.
