Position Overview

As a leading provider of cancer care in Florida, Orlando Health Cancer Institute is a comprehensive, multidisciplinary cancer program that caters to the adult oncology needs of the region through multiple treatment sites and practice locations.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will administer patient care in a setting where individuals typically receive treatment and return home the same day or in a post-acute transitional care environment. Your essential functions will include:
  • Exhibiting advanced knowledge, skills, and judgment to care for patients requiring complex assessments and therapies.
  • Utilizing assessment data to anticipate and respond to rapidly changing patient conditions.
  • Identifying critical information to take immediate, evidence-based, patient-focused actions.
  • Monitoring specialized equipment and interpreting electronic displays, including vital signs and cardiac rhythms.
  • Responding to life-threatening situations in accordance with nursing standards and protocols.
  • Assessing patient needs and developing or revising individualized care plans based on patient responses.
  • Building respectful relationships with team members and patients, advocating for patient and family needs.
  • Serving as a preceptor and role model for staff, supporting departmental goals and strategies.
  • Documenting patient care accurately and consistently, meeting all regulatory standards.
  • Maintaining compliance with all policies and procedures.

Qualifications

To be successful in this position, you must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program and hold a current registered nurse license in the State of Florida or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC). You should also possess current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification, with additional certifications required for specific areas.
