Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Relief Driver to ensure the safe and efficient operation of commercial vehicles and equipment for the collection, transportation, and delivery of our products.

Key Responsibilities

This position focuses primarily on trap and interceptor pumping services, while also supporting grease collection and animal by-products services. Our grease trap pumping service is essential for the safe removal and disposal of trap grease and wastewater from restaurant interceptor systems, adhering to local regulations and environmental standards.

Essential Duties
  • Inspect vehicle to ensure all mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is operational and clean
  • Gather delivery instructions and confirm routes
  • Drive assigned vehicle along designated routes
  • Adhere to safety protocols for transporting goods
  • Report any vehicle defects, accidents, or traffic violations
  • Maintain logs of working hours and vehicle service as per state and federal regulations
  • Document information such as weight, mileage, and fuel consumption
  • Utilize GPS navigation and communication devices to coordinate with supervisors
  • Adjust routes based on changing conditions to optimize fuel efficiency
  • Load and unload trucks using specialized equipment as required
  • Engage professionally with colleagues and clients
  • Follow all departmental and company policies
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality, crucial for operational efficiency
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to ensure effective business operations
Qualifications
  • Valid Class A or B CDL and current DOT medical certification
  • Must be at least 21 years old to comply with federal regulations
  • Endorsements (tanker and doubles) required based on assigned vehicle
  • Minimum of 2 years of commercial driving experience with a satisfactory MVR
  • Completion of Entry Level Driver program may be required for those with less than 2 years of experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proficient in reading and speaking English as mandated by federal regulations
  • Familiarity with DOT and FMCSA rules and regulations
  • Understanding of transportation and safety principles for road goods movement
  • Ability to operate and monitor vehicle and equipment effectively
  • Willingness to work overtime and adapt to alternate schedules as necessary
  • Local travel with minimal overnight requirements
Physical Requirements

Constantly (over 2/3 of the time):

  • Remain seated while operating the vehicle
  • Monitor equipment functionality
  • Ascend and descend from the vehicle and equipment

Frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time):

  • Communicate with team members and supervisors
  • Lift and move equipment and materials weighing up to 60 lbs.
  • Engage in physical activities such as walking, climbing, and kneeling
  • Operate electronic devices including GPS and communication tools

Occasionally (under 1/3 of the time):

  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Handle materials requiring personal protective equipment
  • Navigate wet or uneven surfaces
  • Complete logs and reports both electronically and manually
