Job Description

Catalyst Medical Group LLC is seeking a skilled Medical Coding Specialist to join our team. As a Medical Coding Specialist, you will be responsible for evaluating medical records and charging tickets to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with the International Classification of Diseases Manual - Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM), and the American Medical Associations Current Procedural Terminology Manual (CPT).

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Evaluate medical records and charge tickets to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with ICD-10-CM and CPT.
  2. Responsible for coding daily charges, coding radiology charges, and accounts for coding and abstracting of patient encounters.
  3. Researches and analyzes data needs for reimbursement and identifies documentation deficiencies.
  4. Reviews and verifies documentation that supports diagnoses, procedures, and treatment results.
  5. Audits clinical documentation and coded data to validate documentation supports services rendered for reimbursement and reporting purposes.
  6. Assigns codes for reimbursements, research, and compliance with regulatory requirements utilizing guidelines.
  7. Follows coding conventions and identifies discrepancies, potential quality of care, and billing issues.
  8. Researches, analyzes, recommends, and facilitates plan of action to correct discrepancies and prevent future coding errors.

Requirements:

  • High school Diploma
  • Coding experience or course
  • Knowledge of CMS coding and documentation guidelines
  • Knowledge of third-party physician service coding and billing practice

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of work experience as a Medical Coder
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Administrative writing skills
  • Work with coding software
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of information
