Position Overview:The Radiologic Technologist plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality imaging services. This position requires flexibility in work hours to align with departmental needs and a commitment to providing dependable and cooperative service. The technologist is responsible for executing a variety of diagnostic imaging procedures while ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the process.
Key Responsibilities:
Equipment Management:
- Adjust imaging techniques to minimize radiation exposure while maintaining image quality.
- Report any equipment malfunctions promptly to ensure timely repairs.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper functioning of imaging equipment in accordance with infection control standards.
Patient Care:
- Collect comprehensive patient histories and assess for any contraindications.
- Administer contrast media following established protocols to ensure patient safety.
- Verify patient identification and clinical orders before procedures.
- Monitor patient conditions and respond to emergencies as needed.
Education and Communication:
- Clearly explain the purpose and nature of imaging procedures to patients to alleviate anxiety.
- Address any patient concerns or questions effectively, involving physicians when necessary.
- Participate in training and orientation of new staff members.
Quality Assurance:
- Produce high-quality diagnostic images, ensuring proper calibration and operational readiness of equipment.
- Ensure all imaging studies are accurately documented and transmitted to the appropriate systems.
Operational Duties:
- Maintain an organized and clean imaging environment.
- Assist in patient transport and positioning during procedures.
- Perform necessary clerical duties to support imaging services.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
Licensure and Certification:
- ARRT certification in Radiography is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
Experience:
- Entry-level position suitable for recent graduates.
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills are essential for effective interaction with patients and healthcare team members.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively.
- Knowledge of radiation safety and patient care protocols is critical.
