Role Overview:
The Microbiology Technical Coordinator (MT/MLS) (ASCP) is tasked with overseeing all technical functions within the microbiology department. This includes:
  • Facilitating training and ongoing education for laboratory personnel.
  • Conducting competency assessments and providing leadership support to laboratory staff.
  • Collaborating with clinical teams to resolve issues effectively.

In addition to hands-on microbiology tasks, the role encompasses various administrative responsibilities, such as:
  • Monitoring quality control and maintenance protocols.
  • Preparing for regulatory compliance and inspections.
  • Participating in policy reviews and hospital committees.
  • Validating instruments and overseeing proficiency testing.

This position also serves as a remote support resource for offsite laboratory facilities.

Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s Degree with MT (ASCP), MLS (ASCP), or M (ASCP) certification is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
ASCP specialist certification in Microbiology, experience with MALDI implementation and validation, and prior laboratory leadership experience are highly desirable.
