Salary Range: $70,000.00 to $80,000.00

Position Overview:

The Senior Youth Media Content Producer is essential to the Student Reporting Labs initiative, working in tandem with the Youth Media Program Director to provide hands-on training and educational resources for students and educators. This role encompasses both in-person and virtual events, the creation of instructional materials, and the management of collaborations with external educational partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guide and mentor students through all phases of the production cycle: pre-production, production, and post-production.
  • Collaborate with the Youth Media Program Director to plan and implement training and engagement activities.
  • Facilitate training sessions for students and educators, ensuring a thorough understanding of broadcast journalism techniques, digital storytelling, podcasting, and social media strategies.
  • Establish metrics to assess the success of training programs, analyze results, and refine approaches as necessary.
  • Effectively manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to achieve program objectives.
  • Research and recommend production tools, software, and storytelling resources.
  • Partner with external organizations to co-develop educational materials and resources.
  • Design and enhance internal lesson plans and curricula to meet program goals.
  • Publish and maintain educational resources on content management systems.
  • Oversee individual production projects with student producers, offering assistance with story development, interviewing, filming, and editing as required.
  • Support special initiatives, including fellowships, partnerships, professional development, and other assigned tasks.

Additional Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in film, journalism, communication, or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in producing journalism or educational content.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A strong background in teaching journalism, production, and video editing is crucial.
  • Experience in project management is essential.
  • Proficiency in developing lesson plans, curricula, and other educational resources.
  • A keen interest in collaborating with an innovative team and the confidence, talent, and skills to contribute meaningfully.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce and edit broadcast-quality video.
  • Familiarity with both professional and mobile production equipment.
  • Exceptional writing skills.
  • Highly skilled in the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Outstanding organizational, project planning, presentation, and time management abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proven capability to work effectively within a multifaceted team in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects with shifting priorities and deadlines.
  • Preferred experience with data management and/or website content management platforms.
  • Knowledge of state and national educational standards and best teaching practices is a plus.
