Food Service Assistant Job Description

US VETS Inc is seeking a dedicated Food Service Assistant to join our team at our Prescott location. As a Food Service Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of our food service line, while also providing exceptional service to our clients.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain high standards of sanitation, health, and safety in the work area.
  • Prepare simple food items, such as sandwiches, toast, and coffee, using proper food handling techniques.
  • Serve food according to funders and clients' nutritional requirements.
  • Operate the food service line efficiently and effectively.
  • Set up for serving and serve a wide variety of meals.
  • Clean and store dishes, utensils, food service equipment, and food supplies.
  • Dispose of refuse and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Assist with packaging and loading food for transport to US VETS functions.
  • Perform baking duties as necessary.
  • Supervise Veteran helpers on workstations or community service.
  • Perform assigned duties in a safe manner.
Qualifications:
  • Three to six months of experience in food handling is preferred.
  • Experience working with homeless veterans is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse group of residents, staff, and community members.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must possess a State Food Handlers Health Card.
  • Must be knowledgeable of food handling procedures and protocols.
  • Driver's license with no violations on driving record for the past 3 years is required.
