Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Principal Software Engineer to take charge of the architecture and design of our software systems, which encompass both full-stack web products and high-volume, secure data pipelines. This role is pivotal in developing new systems from the ground up, requiring the ability to translate product requirements into robust system architecture.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate closely with Product and Technology leadership to grasp complex functional requirements and implement suitable technical solutions.
2. Work alongside development teams to establish the appropriate architectural direction based on project demands, resource availability, and timelines.
3. Ensure comprehensive documentation of existing systems, becoming a reliable source of architectural knowledge across various platforms.
4. Serve as an architectural expert, providing valuable insights to technical leadership and developers.
5. Promote architectural principles and guidelines to guarantee high-quality, consistent outcomes across teams.
6. Partner with engineering managers to ensure adherence to established architectural best practices.
7. Create and maintain architectural diagrams and system documentation.
8. Offer guidance and mentorship to technical staff on topics such as microservices, high-volume data streaming, and event processing.
9. Stay informed about emerging technologies and development practices to enhance our systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Over 10 years of hands-on experience in designing complex enterprise-level web applications, with a strong focus on microservices and secure systems.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C#, Java, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Extensive experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and familiarity with various services like Lambda, DynamoDB, and API Gateway.
- Strong communication skills, particularly in conveying architectural concepts through diagrams.
