Feed Formulation Specialist

Job Summary

This position is responsible for acquiring raw materials and composing animal-specific feed tailored to meet the diverse needs of turkeys. The successful candidate will ensure that our supplies are in line with projected demand, requiring effective communication between farms, service personnel, and our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Daily testing and record-keeping of feed-related ingredients and finished feed products for both NC feed mills and Butterball LLC.
  • Preparation of chemical solutions and general laboratory housekeeping.
  • Operation of basic laboratory equipment used in testing procedures for feeds and/or ingredients.
  • Sample preparation, testing of ingredients and feeds, and computation of results from testing procedures.
  • Shipment of samples to other laboratories for external testing.
  • Comprehension and use of all safety equipment to properly conduct testing, data entry, and summary report generation.
Requirements
  • Excellent communication skills and computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Basic mathematical skills and ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in English.
  • Chemical Safety Training preferred.
  • Currently enrolled or working towards an associate degree in Animal Science, Microbiology, Poultry Science, or related field, or related work experience.
  • A valid North Carolina Driver's License and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record preferred.
