Key Responsibilities:
This role involves assisting with the setup and configuration of Linux and Windows hardware platforms, from the operating system to application layers. Daily tasks include documenting and verifying all installation and configuration procedures.
Collaboration with developers and vendors is essential to diagnose and identify root causes of issues encountered while maintaining servers and workstations. Problem reports for identified errors will be submitted to the Program Lab Change Control Board (CCB). This position is non-managerial and does not involve leadership responsibilities.
Regular and predictable attendance is a requirement.
Specific Duties Include:
- Daily: Troubleshooting Cyber-related issues; interfacing with the ISSO/DSS representative.
- Weekly: Maintaining current cybersecurity configurations based on DISA STIGs and IAVM Notices; updating data files, group policies, and ACAS plugins; reviewing security logs; monitoring user accounts, activities, software installations, and system changes.
- Monthly: Scanning systems and networks, reviewing scan data; quarterly installations of new IA releases; updating software and firmware on servers and workstations.
- As-needed: Assisting with the auditing and accreditation of new systems; developing updates to software policies.
Essential Requirements:
If selected, successful completion of training is a prerequisite for this assignment.
Technical Skills Required:
- Experience with Windows administration tasks related to workstation platforms is essential.
- Preferred experience with RHEL administration tasks for Unix/Linux server platforms.
- Proficiency in administering Cyber SIEM, multi-factor, or host-based technologies (e.g., ArcSight, Splunk, TFA, HBSS) is required.
- Experience with VMWare systems administration and configuration is desirable.
- Hands-on experience with Python and PowerShell scripting is preferred.
Background Experience:
- Experience in installing, testing, and configuring vulnerability fixes for Windows and Unix/Linux platforms is required.
- Familiarity with Information Assurance policies and procedures relevant to lab management is necessary.
- Basic networking knowledge, including routers, switches, and firewalls, is required.
- Ability to communicate complex concepts, issues, and statuses clearly and succinctly is essential.
Education:
A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited program in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry is required (typically with 2 or more years of related work experience). ABET accreditation is preferred but not mandatory.
Work Schedule:
Full-time position with first shift hours from 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM.
Miscellaneous:
Applicants will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to access classified government information.
