The Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (FNIH) is in search of a Manager of Project Operations for Translational Science, Metabolic Disorders, to oversee a significant, multistakeholder public-private research initiative centered on Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease. Our collaborative research partnerships consist of leading experts from biopharmaceutical companies, healthcare non-profits, patient advocacy groups, government bodies, and academic institutions. Positions at FNIH provide an exceptional opportunity to broaden your exposure across various fields and industries due to the organization's unique position at the intersection of these partners. The role will be conducted under the guidance of the Program Manager in a hybrid work setting, incorporating both virtual and in-office collaboration.

This position is non-research oriented and focuses on administrative management, necessitating outstanding interpersonal and writing skills, exceptional organizational abilities, diplomacy, concentration, the capacity to work under pressure, and familiarity with biomedical research environments. The Project Manager will lead the management of all facets of the partnership.



POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Ideal candidates for the Manager of Project Operations, Metabolic Disorders role will exhibit:

  • A proven track record of leading and managing relationships with scientific and/or administrative teams across diverse sectors of biomedical science, with a commitment to service excellence;
  • The ability to diplomatically facilitate discussions among varied interests, guiding groups toward consensus;
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills to proactively identify potential challenges and devise mitigation strategies;
  • Experience in developing and managing contracts, including the evaluation and refinement of statements of work, project budgets, milestones, and deliverables;
  • Demonstrated expertise in applying knowledge of processes, finance, and contracts to project activities to ensure timely and budget-compliant goal achievement;
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to relevant audiences;
  • Proficiency in drafting clear and concise business documents, reports, and meeting summaries;
  • A quick learning ability and the capacity to make independent decisions;
  • Meticulous attention to detail and robust organizational skills;
  • A high degree of adaptability and flexibility to shifting priorities;
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint);
  • The readiness and judgment to supervise consultants and other staff members while assuming additional responsibilities for project governance as needed;
  • The ability to delegate project tasks to team members best suited for completion; and
  • The capability to effectively serve as the point of contact for diverse, cross-functional projects to ensure team actions remain aligned.

What We Are Looking For:

  • An MS/PhD in Biomedical Sciences or a relevant scientific/technical field, or an MBA with 3 years of pertinent scientific project management experience in biotech, pharmaceutical, or health-related organizations is preferred;
  • Experience in Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (now known as Metabolic-associated fatty liver disease, MAFLD) and/or Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH);
  • Familiarity with large-scale scientific datasets is advantageous;
  • Knowledge of scientific data management processes, intellectual property rights, and publication procedures is a plus;
  • Experience managing drug development projects (e.g., preclinical or clinical stage development) is beneficial;
  • Experience in regulatory science is a plus;
  • A prior role in a consulting or client-based environment is advantageous;
  • A background in a nonprofit research setting is a plus; and
  • Project Management Certification is a plus.

Compensation range: Estimated annual salary of $100,000 to $107,000, commensurate with experience.

Note: Remote positions necessitate quarterly travel to the office for structured team-building activities. Additionally, some travel is required for relevant meetings and conferences.
