We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Anesthesia Technician to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As an Anesthesia Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms and providing exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Equipment Setup and Maintenance: Set up and maintain monitoring equipment in the operating room, including the operating table, autotransfusion system, electrocardiograph (ECG), and temperature cables.
- Assist with Surgical Procedures: Assist anesthesiologists and surgeons during surgical procedures, including inserting arterial pressure lines, central venous and Swan-Ganz catheter insertion, and drawing arterial and/or venous blood samples for diagnostic testing.
- Calibrate and Maintain Equipment: Calibrate all pressures and recording systems within the patient monitoring system to ensure precise readings.
- Transfer Patients and Equipment: Assist in transferring patients to and from the operating room, collect data sheets, and transport them with the patient.
- Clean and Maintain Equipment: Clean all non-disposable equipment after each procedure, perform daily maintenance checks, and stock equipment.
- Troubleshoot Equipment Issues: Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions or failures and take necessary steps to promptly return the equipment to a safe and reliable operating condition.
- Education: High School Graduate.
- Experience: Typically requires 1 year of experience in a surgical, medical, or related healthcare setting.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months.
- Physical Demands: Must be able to stand the majority of the workday, sit, walk, and lift throughout. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
- Working Atmosphere: Working atmosphere may contain fumes and odors from the operating room.
