Job Summary

InsideHigherEd is seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Instructor to join our team in the Technical Math department. As an Adjunct Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching and facilitating student learning in a dynamic and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned courses, including day, night, and online classes, at the main campus and extension centers.
  • Establish and promote an effective learning environment that maximizes student learning.
  • Prepare, submit, and maintain reports related to student learning.
  • Grade assignments in a meaningful way and return graded assignments to students in a timely manner.
  • Provide educational assistance to students during regularly scheduled and posted times or by appointment.
  • Encourage student opinion survey completion for each class and review the results to improve student success.
  • Maintain levels of professional knowledge and expertise, including compliance training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a related technical field with a minimum of two years of relevant experience.
  • An Associate's degree in a related technical field with a minimum of two years of relevant experience.
  • Prefer teaching experience at the college level.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations representing a wide range of abilities, ages, nationalities, and cultures.
  • Experience with instructional technology is preferred.
Physical and Mental Demands

This role requires:

  • Mental demands: detailed work, student contact, deadline-oriented, problem situations, multiple priorities and demands, confidentiality, and working with others.
  • Physical demands: sitting, carrying, lifting up to 10 lbs, up to 25 lbs, up to 50 lbs, and 80+ lbs, pushing, pulling, twisting, bending, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, handling or feeling, reaching with hands and arms, talking or hearing, and working overhead.
Work Environment

This role requires working in a normal office environment with little to no discomfort due to heat, dust, noise, and the like. Ability to travel to all campus locations is required.
