Job Summary:

We are looking for dedicated and experienced music educators to join our adjunct faculty pool. As an adjunct instructor, you will have the opportunity to teach a variety of music courses, including music theory, history, and performance.

Responsibilities:
  1. Teach assigned music courses, including day, night, and online classes, at the main campus and extension centers.
  2. Establish and promote an effective learning environment that maximizes student learning.
  3. Prepare and submit reports related to student learning, including grading assignments and providing feedback.
  4. Provide educational assistance to students during regularly scheduled office hours or by appointment.
  5. Encourage student opinion survey completion and review summary information to improve student success.
  6. Maintain professional knowledge and expertise, including compliance training.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  1. Master's degree in music or 18 credits in the specific discipline.
  2. Teaching experience at the college level is preferred.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team and with diverse populations.
  4. Experience with instructional technology is a plus.
  5. Willingness to work a varied schedule and commitment to student success.
  6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  7. Ability to access and use electronic resources, including email and the college's integrated database record keeping system.

The physical and mental demands of this position include:

  • Mental demands: detailed work, student contact, deadline-oriented, problem situations, multiple priorities and demands, confidentiality, and working alone.
  • Physical demands: standing, walking, sitting, carrying, lifting up to 10 lbs, pushing, pulling, twisting, bending, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, squatting, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talking or hearing, and working overhead.
Work Environment:

The work environment for this position includes:

  • Normal office environment with little discomfort due to heat, dust, noise, and the like.
  • Ability to travel to all campus locations required.
