Materials Manager Job Description

Gable Search Group is seeking a highly skilled Materials Manager to lead our production, inventory, shipping, warehousing, and purchasing functions. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in enhancing customer service, improving efficiency, and managing costs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Production Scheduling: Develop and manage production schedules based on customer demands to ensure timely product delivery.
  • Delivery Timeliness: Guarantee on-time deliveries of products while maintaining high standards.
  • Safety and Compliance: Uphold a safe and compliant work environment across all operations.
  • Capacity Analysis: Evaluate plant capacity and address potential shortfalls to prevent disruptions.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee inventory levels, maintain accurate tracking reports, and ensure optimal stock levels.
  • Performance Metrics: Drive performance through data analysis and achieve key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives focused on continuous improvement, including BIC (Best in Class) and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Communication: Facilitate effective communication across shifts and departments to ensure smooth operations.
  • Problem-Solving: Actively engage in problem-solving and participate in project teams to address and resolve issues.
  • Standardized Procedures: Implement, audit, and maintain standardized work procedures.
  • Team Development: Train, develop, and evaluate team members to ensure high performance and growth.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in a related field.
  • Experience: 2-5 years in materials management, inventory control, or production planning.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proven track record of managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Communication: Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Safety: A strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Improvement: Enthusiastic about continuous improvement and lean manufacturing practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Industry Experience: Experience in the automotive industry.
  • Principles Knowledge: Familiarity with BIC (Best in Class) and TQM (Total Quality Management) principles.
  • Coaching: Demonstrated ability to coach and develop team members.
