Job Title: Class A Hazmat Driver

Chesapeake Utilities Corporation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Class A Hazmat Driver to join our team. As a Class A Hazmat Driver, you will be responsible for operating a heavy-duty truck with a bulk tank, delivering compressed and liquefied natural gas to customers, and ensuring the safe transportation of hazardous materials.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate a heavy-duty truck with a bulk tank, ensuring safe and efficient transportation of hazardous materials.
  • Deliver compressed and liquefied natural gas to customers, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections of the vehicle and equipment.
  • Document findings of inspections and ensure appropriate action is taken with regard to any exceptions.
  • Prepare and maintain all necessary documentation, certifications, and endorsements required of hazardous material drivers by the Department of Transportation.
  • Observe all traffic rules and practice defensive driving techniques.
  • Observe all company, industry, and regulatory guidelines regarding the safe operation of equipment in the delivery of compressed and liquefied natural gas.
  • Perform timely and accurate recordkeeping of deliveries in terms of time and quantity.
  • Prepare driver trip reports on a daily basis and submit to the Operations Manager.
  • Inform the Management of any vehicle or equipment which requires attention or repair.
  • Report any unsafe conditions to management immediately.
Requirements:
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Hazmat and Tank endorsements.
  • 5+ years of previous CDL Class A driving experience.
  • Ability to pass a standard Department of Transportation physical examination and drug tests.
  • Written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.
