AREAS OF FOCUS: We are seeking Sports Instructors for various activities including Badminton, Cricket, Basketball, Soccer, and Kabaddi.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Director, the Youth Sports Coach is tasked with ensuring the safety and guidance of children participating in the Youth Sports Program, particularly those within their designated team or group. The Youth Sports Coach serves as a mentor, instilling values centered around teamwork, honesty, respect, responsibility, and fostering an environment where each participant is encouraged to achieve their maximum potential.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety protocols.
- Provide leadership and instruction to youth participants while embodying the core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
- Ensure a positive experience for each participant, motivating them to reach their personal best.
- Act as a positive role model for players and participants.
- Be knowledgeable about emergency procedures and implement them as necessary.
- Report all incidents or accidents promptly to the immediate supervisor and complete the required documentation.
- Maintain a constructive relationship with parents, reflecting a family-friendly atmosphere.
- Monitor the whereabouts of all players during practices and games.
- Inspect equipment and play areas for safety hazards prior to games, ensuring a secure environment for participation.
- Notify the director of any equipment issues or damages.
- Show respect for officials at all times.
- Encourage players positively, avoiding negative remarks from the sidelines.
- Provide constructive feedback to players in a supportive manner.
- Exemplify sportsmanship for team members and spectators alike.
- Attend all mandatory training sessions and staff meetings.
- Communicate any concerns regarding the program, equipment, or facilities to the supervisor immediately.
- Accurately record hours worked using the designated time-tracking system.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- CPR and First Aid certification required.
- Experience in instructing youth in a recreational sports setting across various activities.
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a positive attitude towards fair play and teamwork among children.
- Excellent communication and decision-making skills, with the ability to serve as a strong role model.
- Enthusiastic, positive, and engaging demeanor.
- Comprehensive understanding of YMCA policies and operational procedures relevant to the programs offered.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Normal physical activities including walking, standing, sitting, running, jumping, lifting, pushing, pulling, speaking, reading, and writing typical of a sports program environment.
