The Chan Zuckerberg Biohub Chicago is an independent nonprofit research institute that brings together three powerhouse universities - Northwestern University, the University of Chicago, and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign - into a single collaborative technology and discovery engine. Our mission is to pursue large scientific challenges that cannot be pursued in conventional environments, enable individual investigators to pursue their riskiest and most innovative ideas, and develop technologies that facilitate research by scientists and clinicians at our home institutions and beyond.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking outstanding early-career scientists and engineers to join and participate in the launch of the Chicago Biohub by continuing their training as Postdoctoral Fellows. The ideal candidate is expected to have experience in deep learning frameworks, Python, and multiphysics simulations. As a Postdoctoral Fellow, you will actively participate in a generously funded team conducting innovative and impactful research, collaborating on projects aligned with the Biohub's scientific mission to understand the fundamental mechanisms underlying disease and to develop new technologies that will lead to actionable diagnostics and effective therapies.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development of instrumented tissues
  • Work collaboratively and actively engage with colleagues throughout the Biohub to maintain our values of scholarly excellence, innovation, open communication, hands-on hacking, and partnership and opportunity
  • Communicate progress and results with colleagues
  • Publish and disseminate impactful findings and the products of your research as preprints and/or software repositories
Requirements
  • PhD or MD with relevant research experience
  • Demonstrated track record of innovation, and ability to work collaboratively
  • A vision to carry out or continue innovative and impactful research
