Position Overview

The Practical Nursing Specialist (LPN) plays a crucial role in delivering professional nursing care under the direct oversight of a Registered Nurse (RN) for designated patients. Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the RN in gathering, implementing, reporting, and documenting patient information.
  • Supporting patient education and facilitating discharge preparations.
  • Actively participating as a vital member of the multidisciplinary Health Care Team, effectively communicating patient needs to all relevant parties involved in the patient's care.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Graduation from an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing program.
  • Possession of a valid license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Indiana.

The LPN is also expected to engage in ongoing professional development through seminars and continuing education units (CEUs).

Certifications and Experience Requirements

Emergency Care Unit:
CPR certification at the earliest opportunity. ACLS certification is preferred. Experience in Long-Term Care is advantageous.

Transitions Unit:
CPR certification and CPI training at the earliest opportunity. Preference for candidates with 1-2 years of experience in geriatric or psychiatric care.

Pain Management Center:
CPR and ACLS certifications are mandatory. Previous experience in Pain Management is preferred. IV skills are required, and the LPN will assist in sterile procedures while ensuring aseptic techniques are followed.
