Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Utility Plant Operator - HVAC Specialist to join our team at Butler America Aerospace, LLC. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of our utility plant equipment and systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain utility plant equipment and systems, including HTHW generators, centrifugal chillers, air compressors, cooling towers, and HVAC equipment.
  • Install, service, modify, rebuild, and repair building systems and equipment in accordance with applicable building codes and safety regulations.
  • Operate computerized site Building Management System / Web Control, respond to alarms, and become familiar with site building layouts and systems.
  • Perform facility HVAC operations and support functions, including brazing/soldering, electronic and pneumatic control calibration, control wiring installation, and preventive/predictive maintenance.
  • Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot large capacity building HVAC systems, including roof top equipment, air handlers, exhaust fans, fan coil units, and DX coil units, chiller, cooling towers, steam generators, air handler mixing boxes, and other HVAC-related equipment.
  • Be proficient in the assembly, fabrication, and insulation of duct work.
  • Perform building maintenance tasks in one or more fields, including plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) installs, services, modifies, rebuilds, and repairs building systems and equipment in an industrial or commercial establishment in accordance with applicable building codes and safety regulations.
  • Utilize proper personal protective equipment in the performance of duties.
  • Perform all other facilities maintenance duties assigned.
Requirements
  • 2 years of HVAC trade school or equivalent certification.
  • High school degree or equivalency.
  • At least 5 years of experience with Heating, Ventilation, and Cooling (HVAC).
  • EPA CFC Universal certification.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any required certification.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools, including the proficient use of torches and refrigeration gauges.
  • Have and maintain a valid diver license.
  • Ability to record, review, and interpret equipment and systems readings.
  • Able to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and controls issues.
  • Familiar with all types of hand tools, multi-meters, metal fasteners, valves, pumps, and piping with a strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of Building Management Systems and computerized alarm and control systems.
  • Good general computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, maintains a positive attitude, and willing to be a responsible and dedicated team player.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as by yourself.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work from a variety of aerial lift platforms, including ladders.
  • Candidate must be able to lift 30 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations.
