Project Engineer Bridge

The Project Engineer Bridge will be responsible for complex engineering design tasks, project delivery, and interacting with other design staff, managers, and mentors. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on a wide range of design challenges and contribute to the development of exceptional infrastructure solutions for our clients.

Responsibilities:
  • Executes assignments requiring a basic knowledge of engineering fundamentals and the application of these fundamentals to the production of engineering work.
  • Works on projects that typically include bridge (prestressed concrete and steel plate girder), retaining wall, box culvert, and other transportation-related structures.
  • Executes a variety of engineering tasks including preparation of reports, investigatory studies, engineering design calculations, and detailing of structural elements.
  • Translates design criteria and standard details into completed design.
  • Prepares designs in compliance with company design procedures as well as client standards and code requirements.
  • Assists Project Manager with contract development, including technical scope of services and cost proposal derivation.
  • Is proactive in clarifying directions on project design issues, and proceeds on projects with a clear understanding of time schedule and budget.
  • Completes tasks on or before scheduled amount of time and within budget.
  • Attends and directs project team meetings.
  • Mentors younger staff.
  • Serves as Task Leader, monitoring budget and schedule compliance.
  • Maintains frequent communication with project team members to verify design requirements and identify problems that arise.
Requirements:
  • Candidates shall possess a BS or MS degree in civil engineering.
  • 5+ years of progressive technical experience, diversified knowledge preferred.
  • Civil engineer with bridge design and transportation engineering focus.
  • PE certification required.
  • Prior experience in consulting engineering or construction industry.
  • PennDOT experience required.
  • Ability to take responsibility of technical work content.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills, including report writing.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
