Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Grocery Product Specialist to join our team at Whole Foods Market. As a key member of our grocery team, you will be responsible for ensuring that our shelves are fully stocked with a wide variety of products, while also maintaining a high level of customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Replenish products through proper buying procedures, ensuring that our shelves are always fully stocked.
  • Order perishable and non-perishable grocery products, maintaining appropriate back stock levels to meet customer demand.
  • Monitor and act upon open PO reports for both purchases and credits, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Control spoilage and shrink, participating in inventory and cycle counting to maintain a high level of product freshness and quality.
  • Complete spoilage and other inventory management processes, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required.
  • Ensure orders for product are timely and accurate, monitoring inventory turns to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Analyze and control product transfers, waste, and spoilage, working closely with our inventory team to optimize product flow.
  • Support leadership in conducting inventories, ensuring that our product levels are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Maintain financial profitability by meeting and exceeding purchasing and sales targets, working closely with our sales team to drive revenue growth.
Requirements
  • 12+ months retail experience, preferably in a grocery or food service environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of grocery products, including ingredients, nutritional information, and product features.
  • Working knowledge and application of all grocery merchandising expectations, including product rotation, pricing, and display.
  • Ability to educate team members on product knowledge and convey enthusiasm for our products.
  • Strong basic math skills, with ability to accurately count and manage inventory.
  • Knowledge and ability to use computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and ordering systems.
  • Strong to excellent communication skills, with ability to deliver information in a clear and respectful manner to fellow team members, customers, and vendors.
  • Ability to meet customer service expectations and standards in all interactions with customers, vendors, and team members.
  • Ability to follow directions and procedures, with effective time management and organization skills.
  • Passion for natural foods and the mission of Whole Foods Market.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency.
  • Understanding of and compliance with WFM quality goals.
Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to lift 50 pounds, stand/walk for 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday, and work in a wet and cold environment. Ability to use tools and equipment, including box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
