Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Recreation Leader III to join our team at the Town of Queen Creek, AZ. As a Recreation Leader III, you will be responsible for overseeing recreation activities and programs at an assigned recreation center, community center, recreation site, or program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee recreation activities and programs at an assigned recreation center, community center, recreation site, or program.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to Recreation Leaders I and II, as well as volunteers.
  • Implement age and developmentally appropriate activities.
  • Serve as the Manager on Duty for designated sites/facilities.
  • Oversee site operations, including opening and closing procedures, equipment setup, and facility maintenance.
  • Supervise on-site staff, providing guidance, direction, and support as needed.
  • Maintain accurate administrative records, including daily attendance, participant emergency information, accident reports, and medication logs.
  • Prepare program reports as needed.
  • Develop, organize, and supervise recreational activities.
  • Oversee a wide variety of recreation activities held simultaneously at single and multiple park or recreation sites.
  • Provide and maintain written correspondence, including attendance, activity, and financial records.
  • Manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license.
  • High School Diploma or GED, and a minimum of two (2) seasons as a Recreation Leader II or two (2) years of experience in sports, recreation or youth activities, retail or restaurant management or lead responsibilities, or related experience.
  • First Aid and CPR/AED certification, or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire or promotion date.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Recreation sports programs, youth activities, and rule interpretation.
  • Planning, organizing, and problem-solving.
  • Equipment and supplies used in youth and adult sports, games, and activities.
  • First aid methods and necessary safety precautions used in recreation programming.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent changes in tasks and priorities. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential. The successful candidate will be able to communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and the public, and will be able to work in a variety of settings, including recreation centers, community centers, and outdoor recreation sites.

Benefits

The Town of Queen Creek, AZ offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including paid sick time and a pension plan. Part-time employees working under 20 hours/week are not eligible for the ASRS pension plan.
