JOB SUMMARY:


As an LNG Barge Operations Specialist, you will oversee the LNG Barge segment of an ATB LNG Bunker Vessel, focusing on the storage, transfer, and conditioning of liquefied natural gas.

Your primary responsibilities will include leading LNG bunkering and loading activities, ensuring the seamless operation of the LNG Vessel and its systems, while collaborating with a skilled team of mariners under the direction of the ATB Captain.

The vessel operates on a structured rotation schedule.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure the safe and efficient transfer of liquefied natural gas products between barges, ships, and facilities, including the completion and accuracy of barge logs, bills of lading, and gauge reports.
  • Execute LNG tank barge loading and discharge operations.
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections of LNG Tank Barge Equipment.
  • Monitor product levels in tanks, managing pressure control and temperature monitoring, and operate various machinery including diesel engines, electric motors, cargo pumps, and cryogenic valves.
  • Maintain professional communication with all vessel crews and LNG facility personnel.
  • Manage lines and anchors, ensuring proper mooring and lighting operations.
  • Act as lookout during operations.
  • Lead the maintenance plan for the LNG Vessel.
  • Collaborate with the ATB team and execute tasks as directed by the captain.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficient in the safe and efficient transfer of liquefied natural gas products, ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Experienced in LNG tank barge loading and discharge procedures.
  • Skilled in routine maintenance and inspection of LNG Tank Barge Equipment.
  • Capable of monitoring product levels and operating necessary machinery.
  • Effective communicator with vessel crews and facility personnel.
  • Competent in securing barge lines and managing mooring operations.
  • Knowledgeable in regulatory compliance and vessel inspections.
  • Ability to conduct thorough turnover of operations and equipment monitoring.
  • Assist in the development and updates of operational manuals.
  • Ensure compliance with maintenance requirements and coordinate with management for third-party vendor supervision.
  • Maintain an inventory of necessary spares and consumables.
  • Demonstrate seamanship expected of an Able Body seafarer.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Merchant Mariner Certificate (MMC) with AB Limited - AB Unlimited preferred.
  • STCW, SA, RFPNW certifications required; VPDSD preferred.
  • Tankerman PIC DL or Tankerman PIC (Barge) DL required; Tankerman PIC LG or Tankerman PIC (Barge) LG preferred.
  • Valid National and STCW Medical Certificate.
  • TWIC certification is mandatory.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in the tank-barge/tanker field, or equivalent experience; seven years required without LNG experience.
  • Previous PIC experience as a tank barge operator on DL or Liquefied Gases vessels/barges is essential.
