Position Summary

Cyrten is in search of skilled Systems Engineers to support a long-term initiative for an Intelligence Community client in Chantilly, VA. This role necessitates an active TS/SCI full-scope polygraph clearance.

The Systems Engineer will offer technical proficiency and direction to enhance online operations, which includes the design and development of infrastructure, the integration of innovative technologies, and the support of ongoing operations. Responsibilities include assessing, integrating, and testing new technologies, conducting security evaluations, and collaborating across various organizational sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver and integrate innovative technical solutions aligned with online operational goals.
  • Design, construct, configure, and sustain infrastructure and its components.
  • Comprehend the essential tradecraft for executing secure online operations.
  • Stay updated with internet technologies and services, assessing their relevance and security ramifications.
  • Evaluate new technologies, components, and services for their relevance to the client's operations.
  • Seamlessly integrate new technologies and services into the existing framework with minimal operational disruption.
  • Research, develop, maintain, and document new methodologies, technologies, and services for incorporation into online operations.
  • Conduct rapid security and product evaluations for emerging technologies.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration across organizational boundaries.
  • Thoroughly document mission solution architecture and interfaces.
  • Adhere to the client's Risk Management Framework.
  • Coordinate stakeholder interactions and monitor work requirements and action items.
  • Implement modifications to current technical and networking solutions based on partner needs, regulations, and policies.
  • Perform functionality testing for both new and existing operational systems and applications.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in evaluating new technologies and services for compatibility with existing systems.
  • Experience in researching and developing new technologies, services, or methods for integration into current systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate new technologies and services into existing workflows.
  • Experience in creating evaluation, integration, and testing plans for new technologies and components.
  • Familiarity with networks and network components, including understanding network architecture diagrams.
  • Experience with Virtual Private Servers, Virtual Private Networks, and Virtual Private Clouds.
  • Knowledge of virtual environments and emulated mobile devices.
  • Understanding of Android O/S and its security settings.
  • Experience with domestic and international social media and the associated security implications.
  • Familiarity with commercial messaging applications and their security configurations.
  • Experience in performing technical analysis on networks and applications to assess security and applicability.
  • Knowledge of browser security settings and add-ins.
  • Experience in technical troubleshooting related to networks, hardware, internet services, and mobile applications.
  • Experience in consulting with clients to ascertain current and future user requirements.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical topics to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience in defining, analyzing, tracking, and reviewing requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with commercial cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure, or similar).
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools.
  • Understanding of network fundamentals, including TCP/IP routing, switching, firewalls, and VPNs.
  • Knowledge of cloud networking concepts.
  • Experience utilizing Tor for obfuscating online activities.
  • Familiarity with internet encryption protocols.
  • Degree or educational background in computer science, information science, systems engineering, or a related field.
