Job Summary

As a Speech-Language Pathologist with the Norfolk Public School District, you will play a vital role in supporting students with speech and language impairments. This is an exempt position that requires a Master's degree in speech/language pathology from an accredited institution. You will be responsible for developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEP) for students with speech/language impairments, as well as completing speech/language assessments and interpreting results. You will also work closely with other professional staff members to provide a positive educational environment for students.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEP) for students with speech/language impairments

* Complete speech/language assessments and interpret results

* Work closely with other professional staff members to provide a positive educational environment for students

* Develop and present lessons to individual students, small groups, and large groups in special and general classrooms

* Implement techniques to facilitate language and remediate speech difficulties

* Maintain a clear, concise, and timely record keeping system

* Provide a positive educational environment for students

* Collect data documenting the speech/language/educational progress of students

* Serve as a resource to the student support team

* Develop individualized behavioral plans

* Prepare instructional materials for student use

* Prepare classroom displays

* Supervise students in the classroom, general school building, and community

Requirements

* Master's degree in speech/language pathology from an accredited institution

* Tuberculin skin test certifying that the individual is free of contagious tuberculosis

* Current license in speech pathology issued by the Virginia Board of Examiners for Audiology and Speech Pathology

* Considerable knowledge of the principles and methodologies of effective remediation of students with speech/language disorders

* Considerable knowledge of state and federal regulations and guidelines

* Ability to work effectively with parents, school staff, and administrative personnel

* Ability to effectively organize and present information, both orally and in writing

* Ability to accurately observe, report, and record learning progress of students

Working Conditions

This position is exempt and requires a minimum of 10 months per year. The employee must respond to multiple demands of a large number of students with unique and individual needs. Work is performed in a school environment and is subject to deadlines.

Benefits

In addition to the base salary listed below, this position is eligible for an advanced degree stipend. Educational Stipend Details (Conditions Apply)

* Master's Degree: $3,500/Year

* Master's Degree + 30 Hours: $5,400/Year

* Doctoral Degree: $7,800/Year
