Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse

Denver Public Schools is seeking a highly skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team in providing exceptional healthcare services to our students. As an LPN, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our students, working closely with our school nurses and healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.

Job Summary:

The LPN will be responsible for providing nursing care to students, administering medications, and performing various nursing procedures under the supervision of a registered nurse. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records, conducting vision and hearing screenings, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and policies.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide nursing care to students, including administering medications and performing nursing procedures under the supervision of a registered nurse.
  • Maintain accurate records of student health information, including immunizations, medications, and medical conditions.
  • Conduct vision and hearing screenings as required.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and policies, including reporting suspected child abuse and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Work collaboratively with school nurses and healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to students.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of three years of clinical nursing experience and/or previous experience as an LPN at a school.
  • LPN license with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Proficiency with Google Suite.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to accurately record, transfer, and present information in an organized manner.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Works collaboratively with others on a team.
  • Aptitude for variety and changing expectations in a fast-paced environment with the ability to remain calm in an emergency situation.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bilingual skills in English and Spanish.
Education Requirements:
  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Graduate of an approved Practical Nursing Education Program regulated by each state board of nursing.
